drop the pan, count and reinstall the oil pump bolts that have fallen out.
Pulling the engine out of my 94 540 Auto to re-seal, rebuild power steering pump seals and power steering hoses to try and eliminate all those pesky leaks.
Pull and clean the fuel injectors will be included
Engine has had compression checked and is good. 333,000 km on clock
What else should i be doing with out spending too much?
am not currently disassembling the engine so the piston rings/seals etc are not being done.
Have been quoted $1200, 1500 is my budget.
Thoughts and ideas appreciated.

The sump pan cover is so easy you do not need to pull the motor to do it.
sump pan gasket (BMW changed it to a metal gasket)
oil lever sender o-ring,
front seal,
rear main seal,
valley pan (BMW no longer sells the gasket you need to buy a new pan),
battery cable fixings above the valley pan (you'll find them all disintegrate to the touch)
battary cable sheath (get it from Autozone)
water pump anf gasket,
thermostat housing and gasket,
intake manifold gaskets, four pairs of little ones and two big ones,
misc orings (four coolant pipe o-rings, two crankcase vent pipe o-rings)
oil passage o-rings in the driver side engine mount,
o-rings on the braided hoses to and from the oil filter
rear coolant header gaskets.
exhaust header gaskets, header nuts,
valve cover gasket and cover bolt rubber cushions.
These are on the top of my head.
It's going to cost you unless you do it yourself.
I doubt if you need to touch the timing chain, guide and bearings. If you do it is easier and cheaper to get a younger V8 from the junkyard.
