Default Nothing connected to the O2 sensor connector

    Hi All!

My brother in law has a U.S. spec 1989 525i with an M20 engine. While checking it out, I noticed that there is no O2 sensor on the exhaust pipe. There seems to be an O2 sensor connector coming from the e-box but noting is connected to it.

My question is, how will the engine behave in this situation? Will it operate in open loop all the time? He has complained of lack of power and a slightly rough idle.

What's the best (cheapest) source for O2 sensors?

    Thanks,
    Philip
