"Veteran rally driver and tuner Rhys Millen announced Tuesday that he'll be driving a 2004 Pontiac GTO in the D1 Grand Prix. The General Motors rear-driver, a joint project by Pontiac and Rhys Millen Racing, will be motivated by a 5.7-liter LS1 V-8 tweaked to the tune of 400 horsepower. Drift-spec suspension pieces will work to keep meaty Yokohama AVS tires (225/40R-18 front and 265/R35-18 rear) firmly planted on Irwindale Speedway's track for the Feb. 28 showdown between Japanese and American talent."

I believe a 1984 GSL-SE was the ****.

I lusted for the GSL-SE version, but ended up getting the 5 dr hatchback 626. Lots of room in the back, but not much HP from the straight 4's back then. It will be interesting to see what the new hatchback and wagon version of the 6 will look like.
