    Default So now that i recieved the sachs kit.....

    Who hoo! got my order from bma. I was looking at the sachs kit, and know that I am suppose to move the ring to the higher setting due to tire wear and what not. So how do I do it?



    Manteca - I remember you talkinga bout this. But I cant seem to recall what your method was.

    Anyways. Heres a few pics of the sachs kit =). (yea, im bored)





    I will update this when I get eveything installed, which will be in 1-2 weeks.

    EDIT: Does anybody know a cheap place to get a Bently manual!?

    Hey Josh.

    I promise I've still got that install guide in the works I've just had to deal with my car overheating and haven't yet put on the kit because I didn't have the rear bump stops...until today (sweet).

    I used my FINGERS to move the clip up. Could also use a pair of needle nose pliers, just takes a few minutes with the hands; or get a pair of circlip pliers (have pointy nubs on the end) and it'll take two seconds.

    Have to love the sachs install instructions, eh? You can tell Unkle Hans was really wasted when he wrote those...hehe.

    haha whit. No kidding, those things are horrible.
    No problem on the write up. I'll wait. hehe. you shoulda seen the other box. it was HUGE.
    How in the world did you use your fingers? seems like an awfully tight fit.
    ~ oh yea. is there any cutting invloved for the rear bump stops? (trimming it down so it wont bottom out)

    ~ are all the sachs kits the same for e34's?


    edit: did i do it right? ...that thing seems kind of flimsy to be holding up a spring. =)

    I don't know if the rear bumpstops will need to be trimmed. It seems like there will be enough travel in the rear to prevent it. I took a comparison shot of the stock e34 springs and the sachs eibachs:



    The latter are MUCH shorter in the front, but pretty close to stock height in the rear...but of course, the unsprung size is not THE determining factor in how high they ride.

    I think there are two different kits - one for e34's up to '92, one for those built after 8/92 (?).

    The clips do seem quite flimsy, don't they? I hope they hold, as well.

    Am i suppose to take that plastic covering off of the rear spring?

    and, i am right in thinking that the more "compressed" part of the rear spring goes toward the top right?

    ~sorry for all these stupid questions.


    bimmerdood- Does that small little thing actually last for years? should I put some sort of glue/expoxy/resin or anything in the grove to keep it from moving or even falling out. Im just having a hard time believe that, that is the only thing holding everything up.

    you expand that ring and move it. My Bilsteins only had one setting, although some models have two or three settings

    No, just make sure you install the spring with the writing so that you can read it. I made the mistake of installing one of my bavauto springs backwards and then spent the next few days agonizing over why one corner of the car was lower than the others.

    The rubber sheath should stay on.

    I really doubt that the clip would move or get altered given the design. But I guess it never hurts to epoxy it in place

    ~ Is there any way I should store the shocks? I don't know when I will get around to installing them...I thought I read that bilstein or koni suggested to store the shocks upright at least 24 hours prior to installing.
