540 motor at Daytona 24?

It looks just like a 540 motor anyway(except for the intake) - it's supposed to be a v8 M5 motor variant run in the Grand Am series by a BMW team. We were in the hot pits with the Racers Group Porsche team . . . rainy but fun! Got to meet David Hobbs and Bill Auberlen - sweet!

You met David Hobbs? I see him on TV sometimes and think, back around 1979 he was the chief driving instructor for a driving school I took, (at BMWCCA Oktoberfest/Boston) so I got to talk to him.
There weren't as many BMW owners at the Oktoberfests 25 years ago.
