Default M30: New thermostat has no arrow for hole?!

    Guys -

Got all of my new cooling system parts today...awesome.

I got the 88 degree thermostat from BMA. Patrick said it was OEM...I forget the name of the company - some French deal.

Either way: there is NO arrow on the thing, that I can see, above which to drill the 1/16" hole for bleeding -- where do I drill the hole?

    best, whit

drill it in the same place that the arrow would be, in the flat part just to the inside of the channel that the o-ring fits into, then put the hole in the 12:00 position when you install the thermostat

How come mine already had a hole in it? Even had a lil ball (valve?) installed. For the life of me, I can't remember the maker.

Josh - could be because you have a M50tu with a diff tstat? I dunno. I'll just drill the hole and go on with my life.

Got my sachs kit today! Looks great and I'm going to document the install. Can't wait to get it on, but that'll be sometime this weekend, after I finish the cooling system and brakes.

Did you end up ordering the kit?

Patrick usually gives a healthy discount. With my rotors, hoses, and misc garbage, it was still a few $ cheaper to order it over the phone and pay the shipping. The sachs kit includes "free" shipping.
