    Default M50 T-stat housing question....

...I've got a slow persistant drip from my housing... Question is, is there one big gasket I need to seal the entire outer edge of the housing to the head? Right now I just have a small circular one for the thermostat, and another rectangular one that fits into a passage on the housing. Thanks. -Rob. (got new metal housing-current one is plastic, and new thermostat)

Default have you looked at the online or ETK diagram?

if not...here's a link to the cooling system diagram for a 95 525i (which I think is the same for a 93...but you can always start over with you car's info)...you can see that there are 2 different gaskets (#7 & #8) for the housing, which depends on mfg date:

If you don't have the online parts database website saved to your favorites folder by now...it would be a good thing to do....it's invaluable for stuff like this.
