Just a few questions
Do the short shifters for the e34 535 really make the transmission more sporty
made huge difference on my e30 turbo and e36 325is.
Trans doesnt feel as racy as 3 series in stock form really long shifts hope light flywheel makes difference

E28 flywheel is a huge improvement i hear. Short Shifter just makes the throws shorter, and a little notchier. UUC kit is good, but expensive. www.understeer.com go there and browse some options.

I've got the UUC kit, and I agree with bimmerd00d..the shifts are quicker and notchier..I spose that would qualify as more racey![]()
If you wanted to go nuts though you could get the UUC kit, upgrade the selector rod, and replace whatever's left![]()

What you mostly need to do is rebuild the worn out parts in the linkage. I have all stock parts and it is perfect - UUC kit would be fine I guess if it's the same cost, but original parts will feel just as good. I also have a z4 shift lever and the throw is very nice. A bit notchy in the morning with cold fluid but not anything you can't get used to. FWIW I also have an e28 flywheel and would never go back to the stock one. Much more responsive throttle now.
