buy a 318, cluster is reading out "code" and not milage?

my brother is looking into a 94 318 auto. where the milage is suppose to read out it is reading out "code" any idea what that means and how to fix it? we are assuming that this is the reason why none of the guages are working aswell.

also there's no heat

i don't like the auto idea...but he's ok with it

they also mentioned a accident.....

i think they're asking $3900

Apparently the check control module does not communicate with the dashboard. Might be a small item to correct or a big one. Sometimes it helps to remove the CCM and spray the contacts as well as the plugs behind the dashboard.
Or someone 'played' with the mileage and could not get the chip in again properly.

No heat could mean that the heater valve(s) are not working or the control panel not.
