Erratic fuel gauge and range reporting

Hi All,

When I get in the car in the mornings, the range shows in excess of 280km and the fuel gauge shows just under 30 litres, but within about 30 km, the gauge low level fuel light comes on and the range drops to about 50km. Then later in the day, when I get in the car again, the gauge again shows above 20 litres and the range again shows about 200km. This after a trip of 68km. Any ideas??

could be that the floater on the fuel sender is 'leaking'.
i have somewhat of a similar situation..
