Thread: Where are the upper rear shock absorber moutings on touring?

Default Where are the upper rear shock absorber moutings on touring?

I've seen the instruction on the bmwe34.net site how to remove the real shock absorbers. However, I wonder if these instructions are valid for the e34 touring model. The upper mounting seems to be under the cushion that is situated closest to the window, that cushion is where the seat belt comes out. In the instructions it says you're supposed to remove the seat cushion and back rest. I don't understand how this would help as those parts aren't near the upper strut mounting. There is a plastic panel right above the seat belt outlet. If you could remove that one the strut mouting would appear directly under that one.

Did this once - replaced the mounts on a friends car. Major bitch. Seemed like we needed to completely disassemble the entire back interior of the car to get at them. Waaay more complicated than a sedan. Does Bentley's cover it? I can't recall.

Sorry for the less than happy news.

    Thank for the answer.

I got a gas tank behind the back seat which will make even more frustrating.
