Default I want to buy an M5 (1990-1992)

    Hi

I would like to know about negative and positive things when buying an M5 from 1990-92 (315 hp). Since i'm from Denmark where the tax is high, i don't see a lot of these cars driving around. The experience with this car is therefor also quite limited

The car i'm going to buy has app 200.000 km on the clock. Is it a problem that the engine has gone that far, do i face expensive bills?

I've heard that it is a great car, but the engine is not that solid after 200.000 km. What is your experience?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards Jesper

i don't think it's mileage so much as care that causes problems, a rebuild on a m5 motor can get into a five figure expense if it goes real bad
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it

if it's been taken care of, 200km is nothing. Local guy has an original '91 M5 that's gone 411k (i think, 208k miles) with literally nothing out of the ordinary go wrong.
    1995 540iA M-Sport - 76k miles. 1 of 1 auto AW3 cars.
1995 540i/6 - Misc Parts donor for above.

looking at it like that your going to walk away from a lot of cars, i don't record squat but my cars receive as much or more care then any here and i am not alone in doing things like this. it sometimes takes a little more then looking at papers to gauge history but ya gotta get your hands dirty

I don't have a problem with cars with high milage. My own Civic 1,6 VTI has gone 201.000 km and is still running great. I just dont know anything about BMW's.

Thanks for your answers so far, especially the link
