Default 140 amp alternator on 535i

If the alternator is rebuilt with a 6 diode plate instead of a 14 diode plate like the original, is the performance or safety of the alternator compromised?

    How?

is it a bosch piece with 6 diodes or is somebody fitting 6 diodes to your alternator to make it functional again? might help to explain your intentions with regards to volts and amps and such.

It's somebody fitting a 6 diode plate (otherwise identical to the original 14 diode plate) to the alternator to make it functional. Bench tests OK, but I wonder how it'll do on the car, and want to make sure the other electrics are good with it.
