that's the case infront of our shop, it's about 500' of 4 lane city street with no divider that seems to atract wrecks, we use to keep a sheet on the wall to score and count the wrecks in a year, a avarage year would be in the mid 40's i think we got 60 once, i call it the denham springs dance of death pulling into work every morning 6 days a week, it's not the guy behind you it's the guy behind him when the guy behind you whips into the right lane and is faced with a parked car in the middle of the street (usual speed through runs 10-15 over the posted 45)

Default One alternative that I used - golf grip 2-way masking tape

Same thing happened to my woodgrain knob. Since we don't track the car or do anything aggressive with the car, I just used two way masking tape. The same tape I use to re-grip my golf clubs. Wrapped it around a couple of times and shoved the knob back on. It holds fine now. It buys me some good time until someone is parting out a vehicle and saved a bundle.

Ouch, been there. I clearly remember the Jaguar that shunted me up the Khyber Pass last year. All you can do is sit there, listen to the screech of tyres and wait for the impact...
