Default What's fair price to pay for a timing belt replacement

I have a 1990 525i and I probally should replace the timing belt. The 525i has 104k miles and I can't find if the belt has been replaced or not. The BMW dealer in town has quoted me $750.00 with a water pump relacement included. I thought that a little steep. I have the Bentley manual and it doesn't seems that hard to do myself. What is the average price on a timing belt replacement and would you recommend I replace it at home. I'm better than average with car repair and have replaced timing belts before, once in a parking lot on a 1980 Chevette.
