    Default What could be wrong?

I swapped cars with my pal whose driving '91 E34 m20B20 with 4hp22 autogearbox. The car is supreb except for one thing. When u take it for a ride for the first time (early morning or when u left it for 1-2 hrs) it took longer time to shift to 2nd. It seems like u need to rev it to 4-5K RPM before it shifted. Once shifted to 2nd, the gear change is normal, even when u stop at junction, it shifted 1-2 normally, no jerk.

I replaced the tranny oil few days back (no flush, no filter change) but it still behaving like that. any clues ??

my ex-girlfriend's Toyota Cressida was doing this also. Broke up with her before I ever figured out what it was, not that I had any intention of finding out what it was anyway. Wow, I've provided you absolutely no help. I'm sorry.

    Default This is normal. (m)

When the gearbox is cold it will effectively operate in sport mode until it has warmed up. These means that it will shift higher up the rev range until the box is warm. If you have the switchable auto you can override this feature by switching to winter mode and manually shifting into second at lower revs. It is annoying characteristic I agree.

    Hope this helps.

    Default Right...

you don't want to drive it hard until its completley warmed up. I dont think it will shift that high unless you are being hard on it, mine normally wont shift above 2500 unless im into the throttle.

Thats the reason I asked. On most auto car, U dont hv to floor it when cold to get it change to higher gear. But on this car it has this behaviour. I dont have any clue what could be wrong here. I just dont want it to fail on me
