I thought only the 535 had the dual mass? (nt)

I don't recall that in my 318is. I think mine sprung back to a home position if I applied a rotation force. Is this normal in a 525i? Is there an alternative to the $600 dual mass flywheel, maybe from an E28 M30 or an m20 motor?
