    Default Dual Mass Flywheel - 95 525i

A friend of mine is in the process of doing a clutch on his 95 525i, he noticed that the fiction surface of the flywheel is free to move approximately 3/8" in the direction of rotation without any resistance, it just stays there and doesn't spring back. I don't recall that in my 318is. I think mine sprung back to a home position if I applied a rotation force. Is this normal in a 525i? Is there an alternative to the $600 dual mass flywheel, maybe from an E28 M30 or an m20 motor?

    Default

I think about 90 or 91, everything in the USA got them except the E30 325i.

Default Tell him to get a solid flywheel

I wish I did when I hand my clutch/pressure plate changed. The dual Mass is starting to slip on wet mornings. I was told they can't be resurfaced.
