OT: blinking headlights?

ever notice those cars with headlights that seam to fluctuate, or blink rapidly??
What causes that, I've noticed my e34 does it somewhat

i believe you are thinking of Xenon headlights. The ellipsoids on 89-91, and 94-95 E34's look like that, it's just the cutoff angles of the projectors. They are designed to throw the light maximum distance
