    Default Windshield Wipers

I hate to bother the bmw online community with this question but I can't find an answer.

What size, brand ... windshield wipers work on a 1991 525i, I've gotten long ones that slap around and now I am completely unsure what wipers to buy. I like original equipment so any part numbers solving tech would be greatly appreciated. --- Dom

I ordered 2 of these for $5.69 delivered, took almost 3 weeks. They are both 22" if I had to do it again I would go with 21" blades.

    im using 22" on both

i believe you are supposed to use 24" on the passenger side, but i dont see the point. the 22" reaches everywhere you need.

as for the driver side ... it has the inverted mounting hook, its a pain in the ass to get a compatible wiper. many people just swap the rubber on the original thing. i got a wiper from a brand called Trico, it does fit. But the spring doesnt put enough pressure so it leaves an annoying spot when coming down.

It does matter on the year in regards to the reverse "J" hook. I believe they all went standard after 1991 but not positive. With the generic wipers I bought I think it will work with both styles.

Yes you need to use the whole arm from where the mounting bolt is. Everything will work the same except the hook is reversed.

I retroverted on Nikka (94) for the aerodynamic M5 blade (Old style) It had some air scoop that held the wiper down in high speed applications. The old blade sucked so I got a new one and the aerodynamic scoop or whatever you call it was stupid. Wouldn't work in a carwash dryer, poor design. Complete waste of effort so I don't see upgrading to the new style being a bad move at all.

yes, clearly the old thing depends on the aerodynamic scoop to work, cause when i removed the scoop thing to put my new trico blades. when im driving under 80kph, it works just fine. but when i speed up, i start having a spot on the middle where the return swipe wont clean the water. it seems the spring is not strong enough. the passenger side works just fine ...

ill try to get one of those newer arms.

My new Hong Kong cheap blades also do the center miss action. It's nothing to complain about in regards to the price but I would sure make a fuss if I had to pay 10-15 each!
