Default 191,000 Miles and Regular Compliments

20 years old, nearly 200k on the clock and she is solid as a rock and beautiful as ever.

The Brillantrot paint has been polished a few times, but a coat of wax brings out the shine.

Stops at gas stations, parts stores bring regular compliments like "nice car", "what a beauty" and "garage kept?" over and over and over. 3 days in a row last week. Desert heat here has most of the E34 survivors' paint in rough shape.

So glad I have kept her on the road. She's got 20,000 miles on the rings/bearings/gaskets job and tranny refresh and feels like she has hundreds of thousands left in her. I just replaced some window slides in the driver's door and was impressed with the excellent condition of everything inside there. Bought a half dozen extra door panel retaining clips thinking the old plastic would break. Nope. Not a single one broke.

    Love the E34.

How is your dash? I assume fine if garage kept. Mine was outside in the south and the dash has some small cracks and discoloration, airbag is warped along the center of the top.

    Looks good!

Funny, the dash is the one area where she shows her age. It's discolored a bit from sitting outside during the engine tranny work. The original pergamant/parchment dash color is darkened and the grille in the center has been warped for many years. Was wondering if repainting the dash with a vinyl paint might be a solid option.
