same like you replace rear shocks or springs.

How difficult is it to replace a rear shock mount? Time/tools/cost. I have one on the rear passenger side that failed. It looks like it is coming apart and bulging out. Lots of thumping noise. Driver's side seems fine. They were replaced about 35,000 miles ago by my indy along with truts, pads and bump stops. I am not happy.

Thanks,
I assume it is about the same time for a sedan. Still pissed that it failed so soon. I do not have the time or tools so back to my indy and see if i can get some help.
What about only fixing one side? Not so sure that is a good idea.

When I changed the dust boots and the rubber shock on my rear LAD system, I checked both shock mounts. Both still in good condition after 25 years.
You can see the mounts and when I changed the parts on my website Shogun's Repair Guides for BMW Seven Series
under fixes>>>>LAD, perfect condition.
Use a good brank one, no no name products, the labor cost to do it again is more than the extra cost for a good one.
If I were you, I would first change only the broken one and see how it works.

the most difficult thing is to get the bottom bushing out of the hole in the trail arm. to do this easily insert a long object right under she strut eye (at the bottom) and use up and down motion while pushing the strut out.
deleted air conditioning
Replaced the RR shock mount. Cost me only $118. It was completley torn out. shock must have been disconnected/non effective at that point. Sure felt like it
Rear package shelf will go to the upholsterers today. Cannot buy a new parchment colored shelf.

Nice. If you don't have it, you could upgrade to a shelf with the blind, so you can be sure to maintain privacy when transporting famous friends... lol!
