Default 5HP18 parts list ZF 1056 000 104 automatic transmission

That is from my 02/98 E36 M3. My one is green label 5HP18, parts number ZF 1056-000-104 , BMW 24002228631, serial number C538578 from ZF/Getrag, as far as I could see.

Was looking for a complete parts list for that 1056 000 104 one, I only found those for 5HP18
    Stückliste/parts list - 1056 000 081
    Stückliste/parts list - 1056 000 082

These 2 are apparently for E34, but not sure what the difference in parts is.

These numbers are on the green plate/tag on the transmission right side, based on that part number ZF has a detailed main parts list with all individual numbers of that transmission. Every single orifice is listed there for example for that serial number and parts list number
A repair manual is just a general manual and covers basically all versions of a transmission model.
For ordering parts for a trans one has to indicate the trans type, the serial number nd the Stuecklistennummer = parts list number, then a ZF dealer knows exactly every single item installed in your tranny.

    see here under transmission identification
    Technical Information

In case someone has it or can get from a ZF parts dealer, let me know, then I give you an email address to send it.
Just in case I need to repair it one day, I can order the detailed parts as per list.

thanks, that I have of course, but they mention
    1056-000-xxx

so they leave the details open for any version of the last 3 parts numbers.
ZF or ZF dealers of official repair shops habe 100% exact lists based on each individual version, so for my case 1056 000 104 .
If I could get that list, then I know exactly the details of my transmission.
Just in case your contacts in the U.K. could send you, let me know, no urgent need, just preparation for day X when I have to overhaul my trans one day in the future.

Yes, that list shows a few differences but is far from complete. I have sent an enquiry to ZF UK asking for the parts list for the +104 and my +075. They have been pretty good in the past

and if someone can find for 5HP18 the list 1056-000-104 ,that would be fine. That is for my M3, the BMW # on the 5HP18 plate mentions 24002228631, serial number C538578

    I got the list 1056 000 104 from ZF.
@Whiskychaser, you got email with a copy of that.
Apparently the end number 104 is a bit special, maybe only on the 4000 or so made E36 M3 with S52B32US and 5HP18 automatic trans.
Compared to the other valve bodies I assume 104 has different orifice sizes for different oil flow, stronger springs or whatsoever to fit with the M3 engine power compared to the normal E36.
I assume you have also the lists of the more common

Looks like the E36 Alpina 5HP18 is needs a new transmission. Today he came again to my place and we removed the trans pan and changed the filter and fluid again, larger metal particles could be found in the pan, we figure that the A-clutch is on it's way out. After changing fluid and filter the trans works much better again, but it is just a matter of time, we assume 1 year max. and then it is the end of this trans. Has to be reman.
Before we do that, we want to find another 5HP18 to install on a temporary basis, so that there is time to disassemble the defective one and order parts from overseas etc, we also can only work on the trans on the free weekends, so that takes time.

In Japan it is difficult to find a 5HP18, as many BMW here have JATCO transmissions installed, this Alpina is a parallel imported one. Therefore a 5HP18.
Now there is a small problem to find the correct 5HP18, as the metal tag on the trans with model, Stuecklistennummer and ZF serial nummer got missing in action apparently.
From here http://www.zftranspart.com/index.php...ge_id=id_5hp18 we see 5HP18 Identification
Make Model Style From - up to Code ZF Part # OE Part #

    BMW E36 M3 S52 07/96 - 08/99 ZRE 1056 000 099 24 00 2 228 375

That is probably for the US market. However, the car has a M50 engine, with the additions at Alpina = more HP, engine displacement increased from 2.5 to 2.8 Ltr.

Alpina mods for the E36 B6 2.8: http://www.alpina-archive.com/?page_id=56&nmt=B6-2.8/2 only 180 sedan were built, then came the B3. This car is Alpina #108

Based on the ETK the trans should be
    Remanufactured automatic transmission EH A5S 310Z - KM Production discontinued 24001219594 '91, October — '92, September, Can be replaced by: A5S 310Z - KO '91, October — '92, September 24001219721,Part number: 24 00 1 219 721 Old part number: 24 00 1 219 397 A5S 310Z - KO Usage 3' E36 5' E34

Now the question: what could be the Stücklisten-Nr. of the existing 5HP18?

    I found on a German website a reman 5HP 18 and there it is mentioned: Stücklisten-Nr.: JV , KH , KO , LX , KM , KE , KA , JK , 1056000082 , 1056000075 GETRIEBETYP: ZF 5HP18 , A5S310Z

Because to repair the existing 5HP18, I have to order parts based on serial number, model, Stuecklistennummer, and the Stuecklistennummer is the most important.

Thanks for reading that long post, hope someone can tell me if 1056 000 082 or 1056 000 075 would be correct?
