Erich, the German website is wrong. It cannot fit both. An 075 is good up to 9/92 and an 082 is for cars after that. (It is in my compatibility chart :-) ) They have different electrical plugs. BMWfans shows the A5S310Z KO as the replacement for the box in my old E34 VIN GA11907:
    http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...ssion_a5s310z/

That had an 075 box in it when it left the factory so I think that is the one you need. I'd suggest the KM may have been an 073 box except it is a bit strange if they put an older box in the car

Thanks, should have looked in your compability chart. Only checked the internet. So that means we have to look for 1056 000 075 which is good for up to built date 09/92. Or compatible are according to your list also to 1056 000 075 following:

    1056 000 058
    1056 000 063
    1056 000 067
    1056 000 068
    1056 000 071
    1056 000 073

    Is that correct?

Do you have any pictures or part numbers for the different plugs up to 09/1992 and after?

I would limit the search to 071, 073 and 075. I had all of them in my car so know you can swap them around. The others should work in theory. But I haven't swapped them myself and think they would be much too old anyway. I understand they replaced some bushes with needle roller bearings on later models so I would go with the 075 if possible. I have some photos of the pre 9/92 socket but they were intended to show the wiring and are not very clear. The pre 09/92 plug is very easy to spot. It pushes straight into the socket and then you screw the cap on to hold it in place. The later plug is more like a bayonet fitting. I will take some more photos and post them.

FWIW, the pre 9/92 socket has only 14 pins. IIRC, the post 9/92 has 16 but only uses 14 of them. I cannot give you a good reason for this and I have never tried to rewire one. But if I could only get hold of an 082, I would be tempted to use its loom and rewire it. But that is me :-)

Perfect, thanks for the detailed info. Then we have to look for a 5HP18 1056 000 071, 073 and 075. In worst case from Europe or the U.S. There are some on German Ebay, even some including the TC.
Because I am a bit worried that the continued circulation of all the metal parts inside the oil stream might cause damage also to the TC, and complete fushing of the whole system is required anyway.
In case you find a used one in the U.K. at reasonable price, let me know.

The trouble with the 1056 000 075 is that it is going to be 22 years old. There are not too many around but I did come across this one from an 01/92 car. It doesn't say it is an 075 but I think it must be. It was reconditioned at some stage but did not sell:

Ad also contains a nice pic of the electrical socket so saves me taking a photo :-)

Bidding has ended: 19 Oct, 2014, that would have been a super price, Starting bid: £30.00 [ 0 bids ]. But apparently not sold. Have to watch if they list it again. Pic of the plug :thanks, will pass on to wrenching buddies.
