Change the bulb and then it will go away.
I disconnected the center brake light on my 1995 525i Touring, and plan to replace the bad bulbs soon. How do I get the brake light message to go out?
Thanks,
budshaw

Yeah, I don't think you can get rid of it until you replace the light. BTW, I hope you plan to replace all the little bulbs. If not, you'll be really pissed when two weeks after you replace the current bad ones three more bulbs go out. They're all the same age, they are all prone to failure. Let's see, as I remember it was 24 bulbs times about $3 each = $72.

Just buy a whole bunch of bulbs online... so no more $3 bulb cost... That's insane price!
When I bought mine (a while back I admit, probably 7-8 years?) you could only get the $3 ones, and that was from BMA. They have a special shape that locates them in the light strip housing or something... and each is individually soldered in.

It may not be the bulb. It maybe the switch located under the dash. BMW E34 Website is a link to replaceing the switch. It is also possible to clean the switch.
