After doing some research, it seems that removing the rear bumper cover is relatively simple. My question involves the plastic clips inside the bumper cover near the wheel opening that hold the bumper cover up at that point. If these are broken, can they be replaced, or are they part of the bumper cover and it's now junk?

OK..from the pictures, I gather that the clips I'm talking about are cast into the bumper cover. Doesn't look like they are separate parts.

Did a little looking on ebay, and bounced a few part numbers against realoem.com.
I found these two which I think are the two I need. Looks like the boxy sliding piece on the right attaches to the bumper cover with a fastener, and the thinner bracket on the left bolts to the car body, and the sliding piece simply slips onto the body bracket?

You've got it pretty much right. If you've got the faster (a big plastic screw), make sure you've got the chunky rubber o-ring on it otherwise it will rattle a bit.
