Hello all BMW e34 fans!! In not going lie, my first ever BMW happened to be my 1995 540i and all I can say is im MORE then hooked now and will never drive another vehicle make EVER. I absolutely LOVE my car. I picked it up with only 80k on the clock all original stock & engine and lets say for the past few months I’ve been educating myself on this stylish full power ultimate driving machine. I have two questions I was hoping someone on here would be able to shed some light on. Everything is fine in my car runs great like new, I did the Self Check and came up with the following....
BMW NR 8361730
CODE. NR 00000
K-ZAHL 7296
F.G. NR GF33789
SW. VERS. 1.01
AND. INDEX 37
my questions are as follows shouldn’t my CODE. NR be a number and not 00000? And what exactly does VER. 1.01 mean? I do suspect that my "check engine" bulb must be out for it never lights upon starting or during self check. If anyone has any ideas as to why I read 00000 for me code and what the 1.01 version means id love to hear... lol thanks loyal BMW e34 fans!!!

My 95 525i check control reads 00000 for the code as well. I also thought it should show a number not just zeros.
Thanks,

I dont think the missing code is anything to worry about if it is just the chip number. Mine shows a code but the VIN is all zeros. When I found this I was a little worried. But IIRC when I came to input the VIN it had to match a number on the ECU. The number on that is all zeros too so I left well alone![]()

Ok well thanks very much guys for the quick responces and links... I had the car already for the first time at a BMW dealer and they didnt say anything about it and the car was checked out and fine but I can rest now knowing my 00000 is ok I guess. I still have to look into why I cant get the stomp test to work at all and again NO check engine light at all even during self check...guess I need to have it replaced since Im thinking its blown.
pulling the cluster isn't very hard, you should replace all the bulbs if you go in there. You will not get a stomp test if the bulb is burned. After I replaced mine I had 2 extra bonus lights that I didn't know I had.
