    Default 10th Anniversary Thoughts

With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 this weekend it reminds me that it was 10 years ago today (Saturday) that I bought my e34 from a guy on Ebay. I was planning to do a fly-n-drive to pick it up but with the events of the following Tuesday morning, it was unclear if/when commercial flights would be available, so we drove over to Raleigh Friday after 9/11 to pick up the BMW.

Very surreal later that weekend in Atlanta near the airport at an RV show. The show's location is in the landing path of Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport and the lack of planes in the sky was eerie.

The e34 has been the best car I have ever owned. I bought it with 189,000 on the clock and we're at 240,000 now. The past couple of years though she hasn't seen much road time as I have put nearly 32,000 on the 2005 R1200GS I bought. I guess I'm going to keep the 535i until she just won't go any more. I have no desire for a new car, car payments, or the insurance costs and upkeep of a new vehicle.

    Just thought I'd share.

    The e34 -

    The new ride, "Scarlett" -

1990 535i 5-sp., except for 16" M-Contours, cd deck, and clear corners, completely stock. 226k and running strong
