I just use some pointy nose pliers. The tips fit nicely into the slots in the nut. I don't think mine were ever overly tight.
Trying to remove the door handle from a front door. How do you remove that "locking collar nut" from around the lock cylinder?
It's part number 51211928307. How do you remove it? Do I need a special tool? Little help please?

clean the threads first using penetrating oil. be careful as you can slip and scratch paint. Use masking tape to save your ass on this one. Paint is not easily or cheaply repaired

There is probably a special tool for that, as these are similar to the locking nut for the antenna on my 66 Dodge. I just used a set of needle nose pliers, and made sure I kept adequate and even pressure against the notches while turning. Worked just fine.
I also used a plain wire coat hanger for the slider inside the door. Just bend a quarter inch on one end into an "L" shape and use as either a hook to pull, or to push against the end of the slider to lock.

I like the coat hanger idea. I use a ground down allen key (Eg Max 10mm L-bend at the end) works pretty well too.
