E34 Crankshaft Sensor

Is the crankshaft sensor located towards the top or the bottom of the engine? I figured that since it's related to the crankshaft, it would be located towards the bottom, but I can't see anything that resembles it. I see the sensor on the top part of the engine, but I'm assuming that is the camshaft sensor. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

As my experience with our same model e34 that the crank sensor is lower and it was hidden behind the belting....under the fan clutch.....
