    Default what's going on here?

'92 525i (US car) - bottom right corner of the pic there is a pipe going into the area behind the passenger high beam, and there is a wire going towards the ac compressor that looks out of place. thinking of maybe buying this car it looks really clean but have only seen photos so far.

couple more pics... pity about the lousy windshield job.

oh and while I'm at it - is this antenna stock?

Must be having a Mr Magoo day as I cant see much wrong. The wire to the compressor does look a bit flimsy but mine is the same-it comes out of the loom at the strut tower. Hoses look right: 1. From compressor to inner wing/bulkhead 2. From compressor to a/c radiator 3. From receiver dryer to inner wing/bulkhead. You cant see the one from the a/c rad to the dryer in the pic. Its missing the heater valve cover. Screen looks like mine - not sure what is wrong there? Doubt broken antenna is stock - its in the rear screen. Could be a mobile antenna? At least they didnt drill a big hole in a wing Wheels look like same 15" but appear to be on skinnier tyres. Pics can be deceptive but it looks clean and bog standard

Unless I am missing something, the "pipe" looks like a bumper strut. Should be another one on driver's side.

Antenna looks like an old cell phone antenna. cannot tell about the wire.
    Thanks,

Antenna is definitely not stock - I agree it looks like an ancient cell antenna - easily removed.
Underhoood looks pretty nice to me.

You could run a car fax. may be worth the money to check. Have a pre-purchase inspection done by an indy BMW shop may be anothe roption.

i might be taking a bit of a gamble - car is 6 hours away and there are enough logistical problems buying it on the weekend that taking it to a garage won't be possible.... if i buy it i will be driving back here with fingers and toes crossed praying to the god of water impellers and cranshaft sensors the whole way!

My impellers broke at around 420,000 Kms from original, so I'm sure you'll be fine!

Funny, I thought the same thing about the bumper strut when I first saw the M50 engine bay. I don't know if our M20 cars don't have it, or if it's hidden. Everything seems backwards on the M20 car.
