    in particular 3rd - 4th??
seems to happen rapidly, not sure if that is normal or not. only 70K on the tranny, regular maintenance AFAIK

You mean it happens too early or too late? The EGS is supposed to monitor road speed, torque etc and change at the optimum time. But it may not be intuitive. Normally mine is right on the button for how I drive a manual - its changes up at about 2k rpm. But I just did a 450 mile trip and it was dropping down too early so maybe its time we checked the atf levels?

too early, I will check level but it should be fine,I just did flush.
I mean this is not terribly out of wack, just seems like it goes from 3rd -4th really close together, not many RPMS separate the two

Did you change filter? What do you mean by flush?
