1988 735i 4hp22 reverse problems

I rebuilt the tranny. changing the friction plated and seals. new converter. the car has weak reverse when cool, no reverse when warmed up. all other gears work fine. i dropped the valve body and checked the reverse solenoid and the reverse lockout valve. i cannot find anything wrong with them. what else should i be looking at?
