Hi,
is the mileage in you sig correct ? 450,000 km ? (=280k miles)
if it is, then I'd say this is not an issue. I'd say with larger miles on an engine then the oil light being on during tick over is not a problem. If it comes on at any point with the engine running at over say 1500 rpm then I'd start to worry.
If you want you could get a pressure gauge fitted to supplement the light so you have a better idea of what oil pressure you do have.

Hi! The mileage is a little more than that now and the light never come on while the engine is running but i will try fitting a pressure gauge thanks
what weight/grade of oil are you using.
It may be time to move up to a high mileage weight
Vee ave vays of dealing vid your kind...........
Castrol gtx 20 50
yeah it would be best to see the pressure with a real gauge. and then go from there. 450,000kms is already a lot of kms.
I was told by a friend that if i fill some oil in the oil filter and in the oil filter housing it will solve the problem he said that mayb there is air trapped in the tube is this true
I thought there was an anti-drainback valve in the oil filter assy...if that was stuck open, then the oil filter housing would be dry in the mornings and cause a long oil light on condition.
I looked on RealOEM and couldn't find a description for an anti-drainback valve. If memory serves, there have been discussions on this site about this issue.

Yes there is a anti drainback valve but is it a good idea to put oil in the filter before replacing the filter what is meant by prime the oil filter i read that.:-)
