how awful would 19 be on the e34?

Hey man, sorry I don't frequent here much anymore. 19's, dude that's really pushing the E34 envelope.

This is just my opinion because I never personally had 19s nor drove an E34 with them so take it just as an opinion.

Other folks have tried this and defend the decision for probably a couple reasons, 1st their stuck with their bad decision and 2 they spent a buttload of money to get there. I think if you get them at a real deal and they end up being even semi round and you have a buyer lined up right away you can possibly make some cash.

Just went out and measured things, with 19s your going to have about 2" of tire separating the road from the rims. That sidewall has got to be stiff as **** too. This leads to a few issues and I will try to be brief (PS i dont think it's possible to spam the forum now, is it?).

First I would mention that the ride is gonna suck balls, if you hit any bumps or holes more than 3 inches the hit is gonna hurt and bend the wheels and You WILL NOW be able to feel every cigarette butt you drive over.

Suspension will not tolerate it, not made for it thus will puke parts fast. Possibly creating a real mess and tearing out frame parts.

Handling will be the definition of riding on rails, almost literally. If you try to cut some sharp ass corner going on 2 wheels showing off to your GF (or transgender whatever) and you hit that dreaded bump or cigarette but your car will most likely cut loose and be wearing a guard rail or oncoming traffic. Not to mention your passengers teeth on the floor (you'll most likely be fine due to airbag).

The wheels look kinda okay in a blingy way, made in Germany has a plus too. You will still need to take them to a tire place to see how egg shaped they currently are. The offset might work at 10mm mattering on tire choice.

Remember them tires are expensive and add in consistent front end items and you should be able to make a decision. Me? Nope man, wouldn't even try for nostalgia purposes.

As far as ive read, having 19's will compromise the ride quality, but that's all i can contribute.

Are they AC Schnitizers? because if they are genuine they should resale pretty nicely.

18 is as big as BMW went on our cars. I wouldn't go any furhter than that.

This seems to be an example of an e34 on 19 inch. Don't think there are any CSL replicas under 19 inch. They look a bit too much, but like anything else, aesthetics are a relative thing.

Those ones may very well be 19's. I would never go that big. But I do love the CSL reps. VMR does make them in 18x8.5 et. 20 up front and 18x9.5 et. 22 out back. They weigh in at 24 lbs which isn't light, but isn't heavy either. Some Breyton 17's weighed over 27lbs. The reviews on the VMR's seem positive too. Well-priced is also a plus. Definitely considering them in 18".
