Default Volume air flow sensor may be dead

Today I tested the Volume air flow sensor Bentleys says to check pin 3 for around 5 volts I got 4.97...thats good . But when I test between pin 2 and 3 for a smooth resistance I got nada . Nothing no change. Can the M30 run with this not working? I understand the DME receives a resistance signal from the Volume air flow sensor and modifies the fuel flow based on the air flow. Is there a way of rebuilding this sensor?

Don't think you can rebuild your AFM. I wouldn't rebuild it anyways.

I'd go with this if I had a bad AFM.

Wow how about that war chip looks interesting. Problem is I don't have $500 laying around to put into the 5 right now. Looks like I will be driving her for a while with burp in the acceleration

WAR chip is only useful if you want a custom tune for your car. Want to try tuning your car yourself. Or want to have different tunes for different occasions.

No need to go all out with the WAR + MAF combo. The MAF kit comes with a tune for your car. It's a little over $300 to get just the MAF kit (not bad considering just a new MAF for my M-Sport is that price on average).

I'm not sure how running a bad AFM works. For bad MAF's you'll get a rough idle, bad gas mileage, and eventually I think it won't run. But the AFM is a mechanical unit while the MAF is not. And I don't know if the flap in the AFM will still open when it goes bad, or if it just misreads and has slow response when it goes bad.
