Default Dash Lighting, Wiper Tesioner, 89 Radio Wiring

    1. When I had drove over a huge puddle of water, my dash lights, radio, obd and shift panel lighitng went out. I don't think a fuse went out because the lights work again a few hours later but go out again. My sunroof switch was the only switch that remained lit up. What could this be?

    2. My wiper arm tensioner when i turn the car on or off now sounds like a CD skipping. Is this a sign of the tensioner gone bad?

    3. When I rewired the factory 92+ harness into my '89 E34, there were two wires from my car that did not find a home. a brown wire and black with gray stripe ( i believe thats what the color was) wire. Does anyone know what these wires do? I've already connected every other wire. antenna, lighting, 12v constant, 12v switch, ground. Any idea?

Anyone have any ideas? The dash/radio/obc lighting issue is very annoying at night.

On my '89 brown is ground, grey/black is the interior lights fader circuit. I have an extra set also, some kind of dash light somewhere that I don't have. I just capped them. I can't think of anything to suggest to start... maybe the fader switch but hopefully that isn't getting wet.

I would think brown is always ground. Not sure about black and grey. The two extra wires is from newer harness or from your car? Newer models have speed senitive volumn (volumn goes up as you speed up).

To be more clear. Everything on my Cd43 is working, including the speed sensitive volume. I discovered i have two gray/black wires coming from one gray/black wire which is for the illumination, not sure if this is factory but it looks like it could be, why? I don't know. I still have a thin brown wire that I don't know where it goes to. I've already used the thick brown wire. Here are some pics so you all can see what im rambling about.

here's a close up of the two wires that come from the car that I don't know what to do with.

What about these off the harness? I know the blue/brown with yellow is Telephone Mute?

Not sure. But if radio is working fine, you should let it go and don't worry about it. But if you are like me, just knowing about the loose wire would drive me !

the light for the ashtray maybe? it's for a light tho, rig up a bulb if you want to be sure - it's on the dimmer circuit.

(i'm still talking about the grey/black and brown, i don't know about the other 2)
