Torque converter bearing surface question

I have my trans out at the moment and I was wondering how bad is the Torque converter bearing surface. 250,000kms never been repaced before. It's out of the car as I'm chaning the engine in the car. Here are some pics. The bently manual says is the hub is deeply scored then then the TC should be replaced but I've never mucked around with TC's before so I'm unsure.

Yeah, I am going to use the same one, I'm just going to use some wet and dry sand paper to smooth it down. A mechanic said I could use it again.

Kriss I wouldn't be concerned about the light scoring, i'd be more concerned about the groove where the oil seal rides. Can you catch your fingernail in that groove or is it just visual appearances? If its actually smooth and not a groove i wouldn't worry about it, no wet or dry, just lube it and reassemble.

Kriss, while you have the TC out, I have a favor to ask: How much play is there with the hollow input shaft that the TC fits onto? In other words, if you hold the tip and wiggle it side to side, and fore and aft, how much movement is there?

Hi Bill. Thanks for your reply. There is no goove to catch my nail in. I think the pictures look worse than it is. If there is a groove its about .5 mm deep. What lube are you talking about? I never saw it metioned in the Bentley manual.

I was told to re-install the TC with it attached to the gearbox first, then I would secure some bolts to the bellhousing, to ensure the geartbox and motor are connected and lastly I would secure the 3 bolts on the flex plate that holds the TC. Is the the correct way?
