removing fuel pressure

How do you remove the fuel pressure on the hoses that feed the fuel pump? I need to pull the fuel sending unit and clean it. I have heard you can pull the fuel pump fuse and start the car until it dies. I also heard you can enter a code (OBC) that will disable the fuel pump, then run the car until it dies. Any one know the code? Is there another way? I am guessing the tank is at about 1/2 level and I need to get this done asap.

Unless there is another code, the CODE feature on the OBC prevents the car from starting. You can't engage it while the car is running.

Pull the fuse and start the car. The line will have fuel in it, but it won't be under such pressure that will cause it to shoot out everywhere.

I dont even bother trying - the motor will die before you get rid of the fuel pressure. Just have a large rag handy. One of her best tea towels is plenty big enough

+3 on the big rag idea. Tried the fuse method before as well as applying vacuum to the FPR. In the end, the rag saves the day anyway. Just don't smoke while doing this
