Ken, from Melbourne AUS.
'89 535iA with a 5 speed swap.
Price sounds great! Unless its got the same BMW part no I'd be a little cautious: I can give you 3 BMW part numbers for ZF trannies that will fit my car and one that definitely wont - and they all say ZF5HP18 on the plate. They are like Heinz's beans - 57 varieties. That said, I'm running a tranny out of a 325i and it works like clockwork. ZF couldnt give me a list of what tranny went into which car - Getrag any more helpful?
Beware, running tranny from 3ers to 5ers or vice versa-- u can end up with weird ratios ven if all the wires and what not fit... I have an e36 260 (not sure the number) in my car, the 3.91 diff makes me do damn near 4000 rpm at 60mph in 5th gear. However AFAIK, no M20 gearbox will fit an M30 and vice versa, if you get ones with detachable bellhousings you could get closer but I don't think the M30 bell will fit the M20box or vice versa... would like to be proven wrong on this one though...
