    Default abs light on

    1995 E34, M50 Auto with 205K

The ABS light came on some time ago, brakes are fine, fluid is fine. Other than going to the dealer for a scan any ideas?

The two rear tires were just changed yesterday, they were kind of bald, the light is still on.

many factors. different tires, abs pump fault , abs computer or relay fault , one or more of the 4 wheel sensors... have it scanned

on mine the cause was a charging problem (battery or alternator) the abs master is on the same circuit.

use obc test #9 to confirm you are getting at least 13V when running.

not yet, i'm waiting for spring (it's still -14'c here) to do the alt/starter/bat+ cable swap.

i'm certain my problem is in there somewhere, i think either the alternator cable or the connector.

for now i just keep the obc on test9 and make sure i keep it above 13v all the time. it's rare that i can use the rear defrost which sucks but i can live with it.

    thanks for the pics.

i replaced the batt/chassis/engine grounds too...

this looks like the old alternator pos wire- you had that replaced? to the connector at the starter?

sorry if i'm pointing out the obvious but the alternator D+ ring terminal/wire is busted in that photo... that wasn't it either?
i changed both ring terminals but not the whole wire yet... it's ready for a warm spring day...
