Default O2 sensor bad? Just double check my methodology please

    '91 535i.

Digital voltmeter between pins 1 and 2. Voltage with car running sometimes goes over 1.2 volts at startup? Is that normal? I thought they were supposed to sit between 0 and 1 volt.

Bad O2 sensor? Generic 4-wire Bosch spliced into the harness is OK, I also assume?

    Thanks!

I did a check on the O2 sensor on my 95 525i recently because it failed the NJ emissions inspection.

If it is the same the fall back position of the O2 sensor is 0.5 volt. If you use a digital multimeter the reading will fluctuste in response to throttle.
