    Default Transmission Slipping

It's freaking cold around here! I get in my car this morning after it warmed up about 8-10 minutes with the remote starter. I get in, put it in Rev. and the car goes nowhere. Put it in park and back to rev and it slowly goes back but the revs are too high in relation to how fast I am going. When I get out of the driveway and put it in drive same thing hardly getting out of it's own way. Thoughts of turning around but it got better as I went. Is it the cold and what should I do ASAP.

If it worked ok yesterday, first thing has got to be look for a puddle of ATF where you parked. If ATF level is OK then my guess is you have a pressure valve or solenoid sticking somewhere. No trans prog? Lots of info from Shogun about the valve body rebuild if you have that sort of box. And you dont need to take the tranny out. On a completely different subject, I'm just wondering what parts from a 58 Magnette you can use in another car

deleted your description but is exact symptoms of clogged trans filter. Change thet and add the required amound and should be good.

Same thing.. Check ATF level! Change fluid and filter is the best thing you can do for transmission that are least likely to be taken cared of... You would change oil every 3000 miles or so but alot of people forget or won't bother with transmission that need every 30,000 miles or so.

I think original advice still stands. I'd be checking for any stored fault codes although they are normally accompanied by 'transprog' message. You can check the ATF pressure - procedure is in Bentleys. If thats low I'd replace ATF and filter and try again. I still think you may have a sticky valve somewhere as it has been stood.
