    Default Nooby Oil Changing Questions

I need to change my oil for the first time and I have a couple of questions about doing so:

    1. How do I remove the cap on the canister which contains the oil filter? I have attempted to loosen it by hand without success and I don't have anything large enough to unscrew it with. Do I need to buy something, or am I doing it wrong.

    2. Do I need to buy the oil filter with plastic or metal ends? (I have a 540iA from 7/95).

    Thanks.

need a 34mm socket (I think) and unscrew.

Most cars have been converted with the dildo to accept the plastic ends, if not then the metal ends but the insert is only a few bux and is the new style.

Another question: I currently have Castrol Synthetic Oil Blend in the car. Will I have problems if I switch to some other synthetic? I can buy Mobil 1 in bulk cheaper at Costco and was planning to do that.

no problem if you change the oil brand, just make sure you take the right measurement (5w40 or whatever you use)
