    Default weird display

    is this normal?

when i turn the ignition to position 2 this is what it displays:

    BMW NR 8359205
    CODE NR 00000
    K - ZAHL 7296
    F. G. NR BJ76472
    SW. VERS 0.97
    AND. INDEX 23
    Check Control
    Owner's Manual
and then all my guages go (tach, speedometer, mpg, temp)

Can someone please tell me what's going on? Thanks a lot!!

This sounds like the instrument cluster self diagnostic test. Check to see if one of the black push buttons on the instrument cluster is stuck.

it doesn't seem stuck...meaning i can push it in and comes back up. there are only 2 right? one for the odometer, and the other is the check control button. anything else i can try? thanks a lot,

Something I found helped when my cluster was playing up was to remove all the fuses relating to the instrument cluster. Then put them back in again.

I would also try turning the car to ign II then holding the CCD button down and if a dotted box appears in the display when you hold down the button then you know its not the button thats the problem
