    Default Service Indicator Blinking off and on

    1989 535i (08/88)

    Service indicator light blinks off and on repeatedly even after the key is removed.

    Service indicator displays "Oil Service" followed by 6 green lights, 1 red light and "Inspection".

    Even the mileage and trip odometer is blinking and the gas gauge and temp gauge are sitting on zero.

    Tried a manual service reset (pin #7-#19) but to no avail.

    What do you suggest.

    Pulled battery negative cable and all is OK now. Weird.
