Default How about a power unit poll?

Just an idea. How about some sort of poll showing the power units we have? It could start at any year, and it would give a rough idea of the numbers of vehicles around too. Im quite eager to see something like this as it looks like my car is on the 'endangered' list in the UK now. Is anyone else interested in this?

    Cheers,

I'm in the UK to and I think all the E34's here actually no......all BMW's apart from the puny 4cylinders are on the 'endangered' list.

Lets start with the good old E34. Whenever anybody asks me ''what engine is in that'' i reply with ''just the 2.5 straight 6 24valve''. Then you get ''oh thats a gas guzzler i'm sure'' and they walk off laughing!!

All the E34's I've ever owned have never been too bad on fuel. They all do over 30mpg on the motorway (my current 525 does 18mpg in town and...........35 yes 35mpg on the motorway at 70mph with the cruise on!!!! Thats just the same as any ford mondeo, vauxhall astra or whatever. But becasue people are up their own arses so much here, they never believe you when you talk about MPG. But then again thats this country all over, I mean for god sake why should we be paying £7 for a galon of diesel!!! (thats about $14!!!) its utter robbery and petrol is about £5.50 a gallon now ($11!) and the days of just getting in your car and going out for a drive are gone now, and the reason????? is because it simply costs to much for the fuel. Anyway I won't sway to much away from this post but just thought I'd share that with you guys.

Right My car!!!! 1994 (M reg) 525i 5 speed Auto se.

It could be worse. You could have a 535i To be fair you dont see many E34s advertised with less than 100k miles on the clock. And its funny a lot of adverts show the car has just been washed - probably the only way to get a shine on it is to photograph it wet What does surprise me is the difference in price between the 525i and 325i of the same year. But I digress too.

Haha, when someone asks me what plant my 540s got and I say 'v8' I get a hissed intake of breath, and then they have to ask again what size v8 it is as they hissed over me saying '4 litre.'

The '4 Litre' bit usually gets a '**** me!' response... pillocks - I can get 35mpg out of mine on the motorway.

    Oh well, their loss

I'll have a go at posting a poll next week when I'm off work, unless someone else fancies doing it! I'd like it to show engine type, displacement and model year.

    Cheers,

If I was clever enough i would post a shot of the OBC I took which justifies a diesel,14 laps of the `Ring @ 32mpg! And a shot of it @138@39mpg,best is 53mpg@70.Ran low in Spain and put 7 gallons of heating oil in,did`nt seem to make a lot of difference but go-faster diesel sure cleans out things and helps power, I think?!

I've posted a poll in the testing area - have a look at it and see if there's anything that could be improved, and I'll fix it ASAP before posting it in the main forum.

    Cheers!
