    Default New machine and metamorphosis

Well, it took a month after buying it to get some pictures out (camera is a POS) but here it is, my new 540/6 for your viewing pleasure.

    Side profile

    Rear Quarter

    Front end before...

    ...and after updated lighting

Be gentle.. this is my first E39, I'm picking up my second one tomorrow (98 528/auto). Pictures of that will follow.

    Why no fog lights?

    my 2 cents...
take out the stupid clutch valve and it will shift better!
**cool mod is a euro dash, you gain like 1.5 or 2 in. of space.
get a limited slip and screw DSC
get a performance clutch, the clutch on the 540i is the same used in the 6 cylinders.
If you want to lower it I suggest billie sports, and H&R

lastly, it will NEVER handle or respond like an e34... EVER, no matter what you do to it.

Hope you have fun with it man!

You aren't kidding.. it doesn't feel nearly as tight as my E34 did =/

No fog lights because the bumper came off once with the previous owner and a speed hump. I've got plans for an M5 front and rear bumper in the works. CDV is on the way, and I'd toy with the idea of a new clutch and aluminum flywheel in the future when finances allow (buying a 528 in a few hours). Not sure if I'm gonna lower it or not, I'm already scraping that sad stock bumper at the curb at work where my 34 cleared it with about 1/2 an inch to spare.

What size are they? What is the width as well?

They might need changing sooner then you think...

I think they're 17x8's . though they might be 17x10's ... the tires I bought seemed really wide.

If they are like mine... they would be 17x8 front and 17x9.5 rear

I've been meaning to ask about this... what's the deal with the DSC? I turn it off when I want to play hard, and haven't noticed an issue with it. When it's on, the light flickers like it's saying "OMG WTF ARE YOU DOING TO US?!" but I think I've only done that twice. Are these rear's prone to exploding or something?
