Where did you get the sparks from? I got mine from the dealer and they reckoned they are pre-gapped... I checked them anyway but can't remember the exact value off hand.Originally Posted by vping
What is the recommended plug gap for a 1990 535I E34? Car is bone stock with no mods. I picked up a set of Bosch Platinum Plus 4034 plugs and want to install them tonight after work.
It's the least I can do for it after sitting for 5 years.

I run NGK BKR6E in a stock engine and BKR7E in medium power turbo engines. In a stock engine they should be gappest about 0.032"
0.7 to .08 mm or .28 to .32 in.
Just did a tune up on a 535 with a set of NGK plugs that were pre gapped at .30 in.
Vee ave vays of dealing vid your kind...........
I changed them but noticed that the ones I took out had some varnish on them on the face of the thread. The center looked good. The also smelled like un burned fuel. What would cause the smell? I tried to take the Dist Cap off but that looks like you need to take the fan off to get it out.
