If you guys recall on my own m30 there was quite a bit of varnish and buildup in the engine when I first got it and switched to synthetic a few years back.. now everytime i adjust the valves I see its a little bit cleaner than it was the last time...I took apart the oil filter sunday just for the heck of it and saw some of the slime and varnish buildup that gets trapped in the filter...

Just curious, how often for oil changes and what brand of oil?

a good commercial account price for bmw 5w30 synthetic (castrol relabeled) so I ran that for the first couple of changes and for the last couple of years I have been using mobil one since bmw discontinued the special pricing on the oil..I typically change oil between 3500 and 6k miles or a minimum of twice a year..

Just curious, how often for oil changes and what brand of oil?
