Default Best way to get illuminated rear window switches

In my opinion, these are hard to come by, they seem to always be burned out. It is a pain to try to get a new LED put in there too. I don't wanna spend too much money of this issue so whats the best way to get switches that still illuminate?

solder in new clear bulbs then use transparent glass paint to tint.

Search the various BMW forums, there are several people, including myself who have done it.

I bought a bunch of T1 12v 50 mA with wire teminals from MCM at www.mcminone.com. Works fine. This technique works on most any of the illuminated switches.
